CDC could check in advance whether the log record provided by IFI 306 can be discarded, as in cases of records originating from utilities such as REBUILD INDEX.

Today we have some REBUILD INDEXES that run on very large NPI indexes, as consequence of LOAD INDEXDEFER NPI. These REBUILD INDEXES last some hours to finish. We noticed IBM CDC for Db2 z/OS follows units of recovery (URs) generated by these REBUILDs and it is common these URs turned to be, in CDC, "Oldest Open Commit Groups". Sometimes these "Oldest Open Commit Groups" associated to REBUILD INDEXES are running at the periods we execute maintenance against CDC and we need to stop the Active Task. At this time HOT Standby task turns to Active, but this "new" Active task needs to "re-read" the Db2 log since the point addressed by "Oldest Open Commit Group" which, in this case, is a REBUILD INDEX.

This behaviour increases the latency and also CDC CPU consumption and this UR, as it is related to a REBUILD INDEX, is discarded when it closes.

We understand CDC could read DB2 log record provided by IFI 306 and check to what kind of Db2 process it is related. If it is related to a REBUILD INDEX, for instance, it could be immediately discarded, not being considered as a UR that must followed and eventually considered as an "Oldest Open Commit Group".
