CDC Notification Handler — SMTP Connections Do Not Support SSL/TLS

The built-in IBM InfoSphere Change Data Capture notification handler does not currently support SSL/TLS sockets for SMTP connections. Our organization’s SMTP service requires encrypted TLS communication and authenticated SMTP access. As a result, IBM CDC cannot send notification emails through our approved corporate email infrastructure.
We request native support for the following capabilities:
SSL/TLS-secured SMTP connections
STARTTLS and implicit TLS support
Configurable SMTP authentication
Separate authentication and “From” email addresses
Configurable SMTP ports, including ports 465 and 587
Certificate validation and support for trusted certificate authorities
Secure storage of SMTP credentials
Compatibility with enterprise email security services such as Proofpoint
Business impact:
Without these capabilities, customers must create and maintain a custom notification handler or configure an additional internal relay. This increases implementation effort, security risk, support requirements, and operational complexity. Native SSL/TLS support would allow IBM CDC alerts to comply with modern enterprise security policies and SMTP standards.
Requested outcome:
Add configurable SSL/TLS and SMTP authentication support to the standard IBM CDC notification handler.
