We are currently using the DB2 Warehouse feature to store output from rules in a new style project. However, this request is not specific to DB2. There is no screen in CP4D which would allow user to manage the output tables that would relate the table to the data project/rule which created it. This makes maintenance of this data store very complex.
The output tables are created/updated/overwritten each time a rule runs. This causes a significant number of tables to be written. The choice of the table name is arbitrary and up to the creator of the rule.
We need a summary screen which would show the Data Steward a list of tables in this external database (regardless of technology) along with the parent project/rule name that created the table and the date/time of creation, date/time of last update and the size of the table in both rows and bytes. The results should be sortable by dates, size or rule name. Filtering on parent assets would also be helpful.
The screen should allow the data steward the option of deleting the table if it is no longer needed or perhaps archiving by export to .csv the contents of the table.
As a further extension, the capability exists to write data to the internal CP4D file system instead of a database. This screen could be further enhanced to allow the Data Steward to see internal files that have been written by project/rule and allow the Data Steward to delete or archive those files as well.
