Its an important capability required with the expanded use of PowerBI. Is the early 2025 roll out for this connectivity confirmed and what all features are planned as part of this conenction?
A Microsoft Fabric connector is planned for 1H2025.
Certain Companies such as ours, uses Power BI for reporting and WKC for cataloging and governance. As MS presented Fabric, an end to end solution for data analyst, scientist and engineers, built on the concept of OneLake, that can be designed using the medallion Architecture (Raw, transformed and Curated lakehouses), it becomes important to use a data cataloging and discovery tool. Microsoft is advertising its cataloging and data discovery tool called Purview as a separate product, that is not included in Fabric. The idea of connecting Azure Fabric Lakehouses to WKC (VIA ICPD) would be beneficial to users that would like to keep with WKC and are not willing to purchase Purview.
