IBM Data and AI Ideas Portal for Customers

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against products and services offered by the IBM Data & AI organization. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

Extended Composite Key Support in IKC-RDM

Problem Statement: Currently, IKC-RDM limits the creation of composite keys to a maximum of 6 columns. This restriction can be insufficient for certain reference data sets that require more columns to uniquely identify records.

Proposed Solution: Extend IKC-RDM's capabilities to support the creation of composite keys with more than 6 columns.

Function Requirements:

  • Increased Column Limit: Allow the creation of composite keys with a larger number of columns, such as 9 or more.

  • Data Integrity: Ensure that the extended composite key remains unique and maintains data integrity.

  • Performance Optimization: Optimize the system to handle composite keys with a larger number of columns efficiently.

  • Query Performance: Consider potential impacts on query performance when using composite keys with many columns.

Benefits of Extended Composite Key Support:

  • Flexibility: Enable the creation of more complex and accurate reference data models.

  • Data Integrity: Improve data integrity by ensuring that records can be uniquely identified using a composite key.

  • Query Efficiency: Potentially improve query performance in certain scenarios by using composite keys that are more selective.
