GIT Integration for Reference Data Management (Source Control Tool)

Problem Statement: Currently, managing code related to Reference Data MAPs, SETs, RD-Types, and small static Reference Data in IKC involves manual code copying across environments, leading to version control challenges and potential deployment inconsistencies.

Proposed Solution: Integrate Git as a source control system for managing code related to Reference Data elements, enabling version control, collaboration, and streamlined deployments across environments.

Function Requirements:

  • Export and Import solutions: Develop solutions to Import/Export RD-Sets, RD-Maps, and RD-Types Reference data from GIT from/to IKC

  • Source Control Integration: Integrate Git with IKC to manage code related to Reference Data elements.

  • Deployment Pipeline: Establish a deployment pipeline to automate the promotion of changes across environments (DEV to TEST, TEST to UAT, UAT to PROD)

  • Static Reference Data Management: Implement Git-based management for small static Reference Data code-sets.

  • Git Configuration: Configure Git appropriately for managing Reference Data code, including branching strategies and access controls.

  • Deployment Pipeline Tools: Choose suitable tools for building and automating the deployment pipeline (e.g., Jenkins, UCD).

Benefits of Git Integration:

  • Version Control: Track changes to Reference Data code, enabling easy rollback and comparison of different versions.

  • Collaboration: Facilitate collaboration among teams working on Reference Data by providing a centralized repository.

  • Streamlined Deployments: Automate the deployment process, reducing the risk of errors and improving efficiency.

  • Improved Code Management: Enhance code organization and maintainability through Git's features.
