Enhance Knowledge Catalog export/import feature to support a configurable list separator

Enhance Knowledge Catalog export/import feature to configure list separator as semicolon. In Europe decimal notation is comma which means that MS Excel converts comma separated files to semicolon separated files automatically when loaded. This will be very hard for the users to work with comma separated files in Europe.

    Please reconsider and check how e.g. Excel handles the .csv file load.  One can define on the first row the delimiter to be used, e.g.

    sep='|'
    a|b|c|d
    e|f|g|h

    Asking users to first go the Windows settings, juggle several options (because switching implies one has to also change the decimal separator) doing the load and then reverting is bad user experience when it can - at least for imports - be avoided quite simply.

    This approach also allows users to share the load files between themselves without having to worry about their local settings.

    It would be good for you to ask what's the separator when doing the export too, but I assume most people who do exports can handle the separator whatever it happens to be (e.g. Excel data load).

    Hello,

    Thank you for the idea. At the moment, this is not under consideration. This type of functionality are not part of the core use cases for IBM Knowledge Catalog.

    Walk-around is to change Excel CSV delimiter to comma.

    Best regards,
