DataStage Flows View in IKC project need to control based on User Role and Project purpose

Please note this is an extension of previous idea - CPDIDEAS-I-2331 (IBM Ideas)

Need IKC Project User View (or access) restrictions based on DataQuality, DataStage and Metadata harvesting purpose. Proposing 3 kinds of Project Views -

  • IKC project View without DataStage flow for business users for DQ purpose --> Business users just wants to manage DQ rules (Create, modify and run rules) and also manage the imported data assets (column analysis and DQ Profiling results without data preview option like in current Information Analyzer)

  • IKC Project View with DataStage flows (but without data preview) for Data Quality IT users --> DQ IT users are supporting same above DQ projects using by business. But they need to see the auto-generated DataStage flows created by group rule API** for scheduling the rules in bundles. Also, admin users need to see individual rule execution Datastage flow for any troubleshooting(not always)

  • IKC Project View with DataStage flows and with data preview(only within the Datastage connector) --> This is for DataStage developers’ job development and will be a separate IKC project ( will not be used with DQ purpose IKC project)

  • As mentioned in CPDIDEAS-I-2331 (IBM Ideas), metadata harvesting of ‘Data Assets’ always without data preview option by default for all user roles in IKC project and Catalog

We think this can be controlled by user role and some option feature while creating Project

    As discussed on IBM meeting  dated oct 15th 2025 for this idea, second bullet point in the Idea statement (IKC Project View with DataStage flows (but without data preview) for Data Quality IT users) is not relevant anymore. 

    Reason is IBM is now providing rule bundling/grouping scheduling via rule ID instead of DataStage flows. It's a good design and now we are not at all interested with flows by default and you can hide those flows and jobs flows behind curtain
