Extended Job History & Export Functionality

Problem Statement:

Currently, the Jobs tab in our IKC/ICP4D UI only displays job run history for the last 7 days. This limited view prevents us from:

  • Long-term Auditing: It's impossible to track job trends, performance changes, or historical failures over a month or more.

  • Troubleshooting: Diagnosing intermittent or recurring job failures that happen on a weekly or monthly cycle is extremely difficult without access to a broader historical view.

  • Reporting: We are unable to easily generate reports on job run statistics, such as success rates or average run times, for any period beyond the last week.

Additionally, there is no direct option to download this job history data from the UI, which forces manual collection for reporting and analysis.

Need functionality:

We need the Jobs UI and its underlying API to provide a more comprehensive view of job history. The enhancement should include:

  • Extended History View: An option to view job run history for a longer duration, such as 30 days, 60 days, or a custom date range.

  • Data Export/Download: A new feature to download the job history data as a file (e.g., CSV or JSON). This would allow us to easily perform offline analysis and create custom reports.

Another consideration is to use the re-architected Jobs UI which allows going back further, is much more performant.

It does not seem to support exporting the info into external file

Hi - Have you considered the reporting mart?
We don't store job run statistics for job runs - as each job type has different way of keeping statistics.

But we have state and duration for each job run - It can give success rates or average run times for any period.

For MDI, we do keep statistics for each run in separate table metadata_import_executions

each table has a timestamp column tech_start - which has the timestamp of when the row was created.

You should be able to get that extended history view as well as perform offline analysis here. The following are the excerpts from the reporting mart table schema: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/cloud-paks/cp-data/5.2.x?topic=tables-metadata-imports-enrichments#jobasset
