Dynamic Runtime Template Assignment in Watson Studio and Watson Machine Learning

Feature Request:

Introduce the ability for administrators to control the availability of runtime templates and environments in Watson Studio and Watson Machine Learning using either for example group membership or project and space labels.

Purpose:

  • Provide flexibility in how runtime templates are assigned, accommodating organizations with diverse user roles and project or space requirements.
  • Allow administrators to:
    • Assign templates based on user group membership (e.g., data scientists vs. casual users).
    • Assign templates based on project and space labels (e.g., "Beginner," "Advanced," or "Department-Specific").
  • Simplify the user experience by presenting only relevant templates in project or space, reducing clutter and improving productivity.

Key Requirements:

  1. Group-Based Assignment:
    • Admins can define which runtime templates are visible to specific user groups in project or space
  2. Project and space Labeling:
    • Admins can label projects and spaces (e.g., "Basic," "Advanced," "Marketing," "R&D") and associate specific runtime templates with each label. Users see only the templates relevant to the project's or space label.
  3. User Interface:
    • Provide a clear and intuitive admin interface for managing both group-based and label-based template assignments.
