Provide the capability to define certain metadata attributes as read‑only by default, such as Criticality Rating and PRP Classification, to ensure data consistency and governance compliance.
Editing rights for these sensitive attributes should be restricted to specific authorized roles (e.g., Data Stewards, Data Owners, or Governance Administrators), while other users may only view the values.

This control mechanism aims to:

  • Prevent unintended or unauthorized changes to critical governance attributes
  • Protect regulated or high‑impact metadata fields
  • Enforce clear accountability through role‑based access control (RBAC)
  • Support robust data governance practices within IBM Knowledge Catalog (IKC)
