Preserve Existing Relationships During Bulk Relationship Loads-No98

When performing bulk relationship imports using relationship templates in IBM Knowledge Catalog (IKC), the system should provide an option to add new relationships without overwriting or deleting existing ones.

This capability would allow metadata administrators and data stewards to enrich assets incrementally while preserving previously established relationships. It helps avoid unintended loss of metadata associations created manually or through prior imports.

The feature should:

  • Support an “additive” load mode for relationship templates
  • Prevent the automatic removal or replacement of existing relationships unless explicitly specified
  • Improve metadata lifecycle management and reduce the risk of data loss
  • Align with best practices for governed metadata enrichment in IKC

This enhancement would enable safer and more flexible bulk operations, especially in environments with frequent metadata updates and collaborative stewardship.
