Test certificates are created in namespace "cert-manager", not in the project namespace during installation

During the Cloud Pak for Data installation / upgrade the cert-manager is checked by creating certificates.cert-manager.io k8s objects in the cert-manager namespace. The cert-manager is a namespace, managed by the RedHat cert-manager Operator, so the cpd-cli user will never get write access to that namespace.


Command:

cpd-cli manage apply-cluster-components \
 --release=${VERSION} \
 --license_acceptance=true \
 --licensing_ns=${PROJECT_LICENSE_SERVICE}

Workaround:

patch a shell script:

cpd-install/cpd-cli-workspace/work/cpfs_scripts/5.4.0/cp3pt0-deployment/setup_singleton.sh

override the cm_namespace variable in line 322 and 379

    # If we found a cert-manager-webhook namespace

    if [[ ! -z "$cm_namespace" ]]; then

        cm_namespace=YOUR_OPERAND_NAMESPACE_HERE

and

       # Run smoke test

        cm_namespace=YOUR_OPERAND_NAMESPACE_HERE

        if cm_smoke_test "test-issuer" "test-certificate" "test-certificate-secret" $cm_namespace; then

Expected fix:

add a new parameter to cpd-cli manage apply-cluster-components:

--instance_ns=${PROJECT_CPD_INST_OPERANDS}

and pass it to setup_singleton.sh
