Enhanced Enterprise Notifications and Alerting Integration

Organizations require proactive operational visibility and seamless integration with enterprise IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms to effectively monitor, support, and maintain platform operations. Currently, notifications are typically limited to specific events and may not integrate directly with enterprise ticketing workflows.

I propose native integration with ServiceNow and enterprise email platforms to enable automated ticket creation, alerting, and operational notifications across the platform.

The capability should support:

  • ServiceNow incident creation
  • ServiceNow change request creation
  • ServiceNow service request creation
  • Email notifications
  • Distribution list notifications
  • Webhook-based notification integrations
  • Integration with enterprise monitoring and observability platforms

Benefits:

  • Faster incident response and issue resolution.
  • Centralized operational management through existing ITSM processes.
  • Reduced manual effort for support teams.
  • Improved platform observability and governance.
  • Better awareness of platform health, maintenance activities, and feature releases.
  • Enhanced operational readiness for platform administrators and users.

How it should work:

  • Allow administrators to configure ServiceNow integration endpoints.
  • Support automated ticket creation based on configurable events and severity levels.
  • Allow notification routing to specific teams, support groups, or distribution lists.
  • Provide subscription-based notifications for operational and platform events.
  • Support role-based notification preferences.
  • Enable API and webhook integrations for custom notification channels.

Notification Types Should Include:

Operational Alerts

  • Platform errors.
  • Connection failures.
  • Pipeline and job failures.
  • Service outages.
  • Authentication and authorization issues.
  • Data quality execution failures.
  • Integration failures.

Critical Alerts

  • High-severity incidents.
  • Infrastructure degradation.
  • Security-related events.
  • Capacity and performance threshold breaches.

Administrative Notifications

  • Scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Planned outages.
  • Configuration changes.
  • Certificate expiry notifications.
  • Credential expiry notifications.

Product and Release Notifications

  • Availability of new platform versions.
  • Availability of new container images.
  • Security patch releases.
  • Feature releases and enhancements.
  • Deprecation notices.
  • End-of-support announcements.
  • Upgrade recommendations.

Current Limitation / Use Case
Platform administrators and support teams often need to manually monitor release announcements, platform updates, and operational events across multiple channels. Additionally, incident management processes typically rely on ServiceNow or similar enterprise ITSM platforms. Native integration would streamline operations by automatically creating tickets and delivering notifications through established enterprise processes.
