Writeback to object storage and databases through data virtualization layer

Real-Life Scenario

  • In our Data Lake, we want to expose all of our data sources (structured and unstructured) to our customers in an unified data virtualization layer.

  • In one use case, we want to train an AI algorithm on the data and flag those files or rows afterwards as has been used.

Current workaround

  • The current workaround is to update the file directly on the object storage which is not an option for most of the users

Proposed solution

  • Ideally, this can be implemented as an UPDATE on the files or rows through the data virtualization layer.

  • Another option is the ability to add an object tag.

Benefit/value of idea

  • This is an essential requirenemt for the vision of one unified platform.
