new DBlink for cplex OPL optimization studio

Dear developers. I thought that this idea either was already posted or perhaps is considered inside other idea related with ODX, but anyway I do want to ensure that next enhancement to cplex optimization studio get done: until opl 12.6.3. the fetching of data for the model from database engines like SQL was using  DBlink, which could be imperfect but it did work, but the deprecation of it has been a terrible fact for those teams that we cannot spend time migrating the connection/fetching of data to the DB using python/java/etc. Our request is the implementation of a new interface like dblink that should allow to the modeler a quick connection to the DBs like SQL, oracle, etc. without many lines of codes in python when a large-scale model is required. Remind that a large problem is connected to many and big tables, and python is nice, but for responsiveness to stakeholders when you need changes quickly, python data management, is not the most efficient for large scale problems. if you create that new dblink, it is a powerful enhancement that you also can move to ODX. Remind that data science is not just a lot of code in python, it is also the capability to deliver answers to the Company fast and efficiently with easy tools, also explain easily the results of cplex and create confidence in the stakeholders with an intelligible code as we had with DBlink when fetching data. Thanks in advance

    Hi IBM Team

It is true that now we have ODBCRead and ODBCPublish, but it is pending yet the equivalent to the DBUpdate function, which allows us to interact through other ways with the data bases engines . Due to the status "Delivered" for this idea, then I have created a separated idea for the "ODBCUpdate" function. Thanks!

    Planned for COS 20.1.

While currently there is no direct replacement for the old DBLink functionality, there are some solutions based on Java. These are available in public github.

I totally agree with your demand.  This kind of changes affect us negatively.

Definitely a DB link should be available, we have developed several models over the past few years for which now we are not able to connect OPL 12.6.8.  IBM, this kind of changes in technology should not affect negatively customers, I am 100% agree to develop new methods of integration but customers should migrate to them in their own pace.

Yes, please.  My data is in a SQL database and I can't possibly rewrite the import in Python.  I can't use 12.8 improvements without a database link.
