IBM Data and AI Ideas Portal for Customers

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against products and services offered by the IBM Data & AI organization. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

OPL Lazy Constraint Pool

At http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21681643, it is indicated that it is not possible to add lazy constraints in OPL Script. I know OPL is not a programming language, but it is quite important to be able to add lazy constraints in certain implementations. Considering that lazy constraints can be applied even in docplex, I do not see the reason why we cannot utilize this important feature in OPL.

The IloCplex scripting class does support adding lazy constraints, see https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSSA5P_12.10.0/ilog.odms.ide.help/refjsopl/html/IloCplex.html?view=kc#addLazyConstraints. So I think the answer on the respective forum should be corrected and the Aha at hand can be closed as "implemented".

Note that lazy constraints cannot be added to the opl model, but that is consistent with all the other APIs. Lazy constraints are not considered part of the model, they are special information to the solver. So it is fine that they can only be added to the solver.
