For manta-alation integration- switch to the newer PUT /custom_field_values/async API

About the New Alation API

Regarding the suggestion to switch to the newer PUT /custom_field_values/async API:

  • This is indeed a different API, and switching to it would require a product-level enhancement on the Manta side.
  • Our Engineering and Product teams confirmed that the current connector uses the /ulm API, which remains supported but is now deprecated by Alation.

We would like to highlight that:

The request to adopt a new API must come from the client side, via the IBM Ideas Portal, so that it can be properly tracked, reviewed, and prioritized as part of the product roadmap.

We recommend submitting an entry describing:

  • The limitations experienced with the current ULM-based export;
  • The benefits of switching to the new async endpoint;
  • A reference to the related support case(s)-  TS019797771, TS019960922

Response from alation team: ULM API has been deprecated and will be sunset soon. Details about that can be found here and here. The recommended API has improved performance and supports up to 10,000 objects per request.
