This portal is to open public enhancement requests against products and services offered by the IBM Data Platform organization. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Hi Jakub,
this makes sense. I see your point that customers with smaller requirements. However, there are two points to consider:
1. Providing these users two ways to create workflows (one with all connections and one with speciufic connections) makes training users harder.
1. The specithe impact of running a workflow by mistake is extremely bad. It can cause Manta to crash, and loss of lineage data.
The role based access control doesnt help, because people do want to be able to create a workflow and run then involving some connections. If there is method to disallow users from creating workflows with no connections, please do let me know.
One alternative to consider is may be adding some kind of UI feedback in the workflow designer to show users that an empty worklfow will execute all N connections (indicate how many connections, because that will be noticed by users)
Hi Devayon,
this is a designed and desired behaviour, ensuring that customers with smaller requirements can easily create a workflow that would dynamically run all necessary steps that are needed to scan data lineage for their data sources. To avoid misuse, I would recommend leveraging role based access control - we have distinct roles for creation and execution of workflows to help you control who can create the workflows in Admin UI - https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/manta-data-lineage?topic=keycloak-user-management#process-manager.
Best Regards,
Jakub
