IBM Data Platform Ideas Portal for Customers

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against products and services offered by the IBM Data Platform organization. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Scan SAS lineage from execution logs

Background: The Manta SAS scanner is unable to generate accurate lineage from SAS scripts that use a lot of variables that resolve at runtime. Depending on the extent of use, this can cause incorrect source and destination data (ie, Manta says that the destination is my_table_yyyy, while in reality it is my_table_2026) to being unable to extract any lineage at all (because the dependent sas modules are loaded based on values of other variables).

The ask: Allow Manta to scan execution logs of a SAS job to extract runtime lineage. Proof of concept tests with IBM seems to indicate that these generate much more accurate lineage. The existsing scanner should still exist since scanning logs provide design time lineage, though in practice it is inaccurate.
