Currently, in column-organized tables you cannot alter or rename columns and you even cannot drop columns. The only allowed operation is to add a column. This renders the column-based-tables pretty useless because in a normal environment, it must be possible to make changes to a table. The only workaround we found was using ADMIN_MOVE_TABLE to copy the table into a new one with changed schema which however takes very long time for large tables. Furthermore, this hinders manageability if you mix row- and column-based tables in one database.
