Time to time there is requirement to be the only user on the database like drop and create database, but there are also users with system authorizations connected to database. Or there is product (even from IBM) like Maximo: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/installing-and-configuring-db2-1111-maximo-7606 that product requires DBADM authority in order to work correctly.
Db2 already supports QUISCE DATABASE command but it work like:
Forces all users from database.
Restricts access to database to all users except users with SYSADM, SYSMAINT, DBADM, or SYSCTRL authorities.
But I would like to have something like MS-SQL has:
ALTER DATABASE baza SET SINGLE_USER WITH ROLLBACK IMMEDIATE
and this works like:
Forces all of the users from database.
Restricts access to database to all users:
- except one and only user that has executed the command
- any other user even super-user can not get access to database
- even the same user that put database in single user mode but in second connection is restricted to database
If session freezes or some other admin would like to get access to database, then connection (session) is forced out of database and then the next super user that connects to database gets single_user access.
