IBM Data and AI Ideas Portal for Customers

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against products and services offered by the IBM Data & AI organization. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

Add microseconds to the Db2 pureScale log timestamp to match what Db2 z/OS is doing today.

We require accurate microseconds from the Db2 pureScale log in order to process our CDC messages via infosphere. Currently LUW logs only go to the second and stop. We currently use Db2 z/OS across a 3 member data sharing group. We have CDC turned on and use Informatica power exchange in order to replicate to the data warehouse as well as multiple JMS queues in order to sync work across other data systems. We are moving off the mainframe and converting over to a 5 member 2 CF pureScale cluster and Infosphere will replace Informatica as our data replication tool. In our testing we have discovered that our messaging is not synchronized across other systems because there is no valid timestamp coming from the pureScale log. An attempt was made by the CDC team to create a dummy numerical microsecond and append it to the end of the time. This doesn’t work because it is simply an ordering mechanism and not an actual timestamp. Besides, order is only relative to one environment, once we span environments the appended numerical order becomes useless.

Db2 LUW cannot guarantee correct granularity. Suggest working with the Infosphere CDC team on a viable solution.
