fencing agent handle promptly and avoid server reboot when it noticed minor lib changes at OS end

Dear IBM

Thank you much for such great imitative on HA Auto failover feature on DB2 LUW.

We have implemented PACEMAKER with fencing technology on huge number of DB2 servers.


Following are the challenges which needs to be addressed and improve the functionality.

  1. Fencing process always restart DB2 Server Primary/Standby when it noticed some minor library changes at OS end (Azure Cloud SuSE Linux OS).

  2. Yearly password need to be update for Fencing agent.

  3. Fencing mechanism not working properly to shift the role, it used to hung in between in some scenarios.

Alternatively, we are trying to test QDevice, QNet (3rd Host) solution and try to replace it with fencing mechanism.


IBM suggested QNet can be shared with 1 OR 2 set of cluster for better performance, also for Production environment, dedicated QNet to be configured.


Please help to address above fencing issue as soon as possible.
