To resolve the backup failure issue caused by identical hostnames across IIAS appliances running in Docker containers.

Assigning unique hostnames to each IIAS appliance (or container) is essential because backup tools like EMC NetWorker rely on hostnames to identify and manage client systems. When multiple appliances use the same hostname, EMC NetWorker cannot differentiate between them, leading to conflicts, backup failures, and potential data loss.

Backup Teams: Can confidently manage and monitor backups from each appliance without ambiguity or risk.

Database Administrators: Gain assurance that all DB2 databases are being backed up reliably and can be restored when needed.

How should It Work?

Assign Unique hostnames
Register Unique clients in EMC Networker
Update backup scripts
Test Backup and Restore
