Enhancing Guidance and Documentation for Db2: Recommendations for New Features and Db2 Performance Resources.

Customer is using Db2 with 4K_DEVICE OS(z/Linux) and they were unsure whether to enable the new DB2_4K_DEVICE_SUPPORT feature and requested an improvement because they did not have enough information to make a decision.

Improvement of Guidance on New Features

  • When new features are introduced, we want to clearly determine whether they are recommended or not recommended for each hardware and operating system.
  • For any configuration changes, please provide more detailed information on the advantages and disadvantages.
  • Additionally, include the background and intent, such as what kind of performance improvements the feature aims to achieve.

Documentation for Db2 performance information

  • For z/OS, Redbooks provide a reasonable amount of performance data and related information.
  • In the past, Redbooks for Db2 on z/Linux were quite comprehensive, but recently they have become scarce.
  • We would like to see more detailed and enriched documentation for Db2 on z/Linux, including performance considerations and best practices.
