Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests

The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

Request for improving pureScale reliability

In this customer environment, there are 4 power740 systems.
Customer use these 4 systems for high availability DB2 pureScale as,

DB node #1 on p740#1

DB node #2 on p740#2

CF node #1 on p740#3

CF node #2 on p740#4


Recently, power740#4 got a PCI backplane hardware issue that cause CF#2 node down and NW connection also lost between DB#2 and CF#2.

Due to the connection problem, DB#2 also gone offline as CF#2 was GPFS cluster manager at this time. The cluster manager exiled DB#2 from GPFS member.
DB#2 instance got offline because it lost GPFS resource.

We think a hardware problem shouldn't cause outage for resources on the other hardware.

Customer request us to improve pureScale system reliability.
