Shape the future of IBM!
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Post your ideas
Post ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,
Post an idea
Upvote ideas that matter most to you
Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea
Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests
The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.
Receive notification on the decision
Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

Hello,
I agree in implementing this.. but we need to have control over it.. So a db-parameter or some other kind of management will be needed..
---> AGREE
there are cases and cases when this is not desirable.
---> Changing this would effect the Veritas VCS DB2 UDB agent , which works very well with DB2 as you specify StartUpOpt = START, StartUpOpt = ACTIVATEDB to control db2 start behaviour . You typical set Veritas DB2 UDB agent to StartUpOpt = START not to activate the db2 database in db2 dpf environment , and then manual ACTIVATEDB or via vcs controlled script that is actioned when all db2 partitions have been started.

Starting (db2start) and activating (db2 activate db) all databases in an instance after system reboot only setting a parameter would be so great and save time spending in scripting these things for different OS.
Why not having an external script run by DB2 when the starting process has completed in which we could add all the commands, like "db2 activate db xx".
This would require no additional parameter and would provide a broader facility to start things after DB2 initialization is done.

Please contact Shimei Yan for management related issues.

Having a DB parameter telling the instance to activate it automatically as soon as instance starts woulds be nice!
