Hybrid Indexes(RIMS)

I recently inquired with IBM regarding what I am calling hybrid indexes, ie: indexes that reference normal columns as well as nodes within an XML column. This is not currently available, however, in the communications Melanie requested that I pass this requirement on to you to include in our requirements. According to Matthias they have heard this request before, I believe they would like it either formalized or reinforced as a requirement. Is it planned to allow for hybrid indexes where we can reference normal db2 column names as well as nodes within the xml? Currently not in plan, but we have heard this request several times before. Please mention it to Tim as well. Secondly, if two indexes exist, one typical and one referencing the xml, is index-anding possible? Absolutely. The uniqueness is truly defined by a combination of the pks and nodes within the XML. Then for now the few nodes that contribute to the PK in the XML could be extracted into relational columns.
