IBM Data and AI Ideas Portal for Customers

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post your ideas

Post ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea

Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests

The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

Add support for passing rowchangetimestampoverride filetype modifiers to admin_move_table(RIMS)

My customer, Deutscher Sparkassenverlag, makes extensive use of the admin_move_table utility and uses the rowchangetimetamp feature on columns in several thousand large tables with thousand millions of rows. These rowchangetimestamp will be used for in-line processing of sensitive data in their production application. Unfortunately, admin_move_table updates every rowchangetimestamp column and cannot be used to online load their tables to new tabelspaces (with new features like 'reduce max' etc.). Export/import/load is no option for customer as this requires large maintenance windows . In the ADMIN_CMD call the only passed modified is really MODIFIED BY ANYORDER from Otm::copyUseLoad Even though the ADMIN_CMD allows for modified by rowchangetimestampoverride to be passed to it: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v9r7/topic/com.ibm.db2.luw.sql.rtn.doc/doc/r0023577.html Please add especially the rowchangetimestampoverride filetype modifier but also identityoverride, generatedoverride .... to be able to move the tables online but keep existing rowchangetimestamps etc. using ADMIN_MOVE_TABLE.

If you use ALLOW_READ_ACCESS and COPY_USE_LOAD option of ADMIN_MOVE_TABLE, the row change timestamp column content of source table gets preserved during the move.

AMT is not able to preserve the rowchangetimestamp during REPLAY is not possible, therefore ALLOW_READ_ACCESS is required.
