IBM Data and AI Ideas Portal for Customers

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post your ideas

Post ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea

Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests

The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

Reorg Utility Progress data is missing in db2 list utilities and db2 list utilities show detail command

The db2 list utilties and db2 list utilities show detail command will not display the Reorg utility progress.

1) The command will display the Runstats progress details for the table

2) The command will display the Load progress details for the table

3) The command will display the Backup progress details for the database

4) The command will display the Restore details for the database

So it is good even if it displays the Reorg progress details with different phases it is operating . It should display the clear phases with which it is operating both offline Reorg and Inplace Reorg.

Monitoring reorgs of large tables is done by most customers. When maintenance windows are tight it is imperitive to have a good estimate of progress.

This helps in making decisions to continue or abort a reorg based on time constraints. Updating users with an accurate estimate as to when the table will be avaialble again or at least the current progress will also be very welcome

Good idea! It will give the client the security that the reorg process is not hitting an issues and if it does, react immediately.

This is a key requirement to ensure necessary reorgs can be executed and monitored within customer agreed maintenance windows to avoid critical business system impact for the client.

The DBA having more control of all operations including the reorg always help to determine progress and time to complete. It's a must to our tool.

For a DBA like me , Who Maintains Data warehouse Environment, Its would be a Very good Add on . Most often we show skepticism to run a reorg on a Large Table Unless its really necessary , For one reason being its difficult to Track Also It puts us in Awkward Situation During Any Outage activities , where Annoyed Client Is very much interested to Know the Progress & we have no ready answer to that Question. :)

Seems like useful information to be collected while running db2 list utilities as other utilities like Backup, Runstats, Restore are displayed.

Good idea, will be useful for SAP/Db2 customers who still use manual reorg.
