IBM Data Server Runtime Client support on Red Hat OpenShift

We are using Red Hat OpenShift to access "external" Db2 databases. We have a "IBM Data Server Runtime Client" in each container in a OpenShift POD, one or more containers per POD. OpenShift uses overlayFS with overlay2-driver where the the client files are located. We are using OpenShift v3.11 and v4.3 (or newer) with rhel7.7 or higher as container OS. The Db2 server version used are v11.1.1.1 and v11.5.m.f (upgrade during 2021) on external virtual machines on rhel7.7 or higher.

The applications we have today i RHEL are beeing moved into RHOS, and need the same functionality regarding db2 client and drivers:

  • C++ applications with Embedded SQL

  • Java applications

  • Both using XA transactions

  • Using scripts like kornshell with SQL
