IBM Data and AI Ideas Portal for Customers

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against products and services offered by the IBM Data & AI organization. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

DB2z Custom Routing of Utility Messages to DDs

Sometimes you need to quickly review only certain utility messages from a very large output of several utility executions, or only a few where there might've been many, many objects processed.

It is very awkward to have to go through perhaps thousands of lines of messages to focus in on what you're looking for.

Instead of having to parse the complete SYSPRINT, those specific messages can easily be segregated. Sometimes certain messages are useful for triggering other actions, perhaps opening a service ticket.

Perhaps you could use certain messages to help populate a database that hold historic metrics of utility executions.

Utility do display error when fail to load data:

    DSNU056I :PAJH 170 22:52:50.49 DSNUGMAP - TABLE 'RSA.PS_OMBI_INTFC_TMP2' NOT FOUND

Can IBM change it to something like this:

    DSNU056I :PAJH 170 22:52:50.49 DSNUGMAP – ERROR - TABLE 'RSA.PS_OMBI_INTFC_TMP2' NOT FOUND

    Or

    DSNU056I :PAJH 170 22:52:50.49 DSNUGMAP – UNSUCCESSFUL LOAD - TABLE 'RSA.PS_OMBI_INTFC_TMP2' NOT FOUND

In any case, there should be an easy and consistent way to look for the error in the utiltiy output.

Same thing is relevant to BIND and REBIND output – applications have master BIND/REBIND SYSINs with hundreds of BIND/REBIND statements; it is possible that most of them are successful but a couple of them fail. If every failed one contains ‘ERROR’ or ‘UNSUCCESSFUL’, it is easier to find them.

User is loading many tables.... Output is over 1.1 MILLION lines...... 90% is DSNU650I messages but they get a RC8 and are trying to search the entire output as to where the problem is.
