Alter PBG to PBR should be possible for tables with LOBs

The statement ALTER PARTITIONING TO PARTITION BY RANGE should be applicable for tables with LOB's.

One of the main drivers for us to convert from PBG's to PBR's is that our LOB tablespaces are growing very large. As the base tables usually only contain few columns, there will only be one partition in a PBG containing a LOB. This means we now have LOB tables larger than 3 TB. We have identified this as a risk, because the time to recover such a table will be substantial. The only option is to convert to PBR and ensure data is spread over a (large) number of partitions and subsequently a (large) number of LOB tablespaces.

However, the outage needed to perform such a conversion offline will be unacceptable to our customers.

Our only option is to find a way to the conversion online, and we had hoped that the new online conversion from PBG to PBR would help us. Unfortunately is it currently not included.

We need this feature asap because our LOB tables are steadily growing thus increasing the problem.
