DSNTYPE(PIPE) support for TEMPLATE utility

Would like to be able to dynamically allocate a z/OS Unix Named Pipe via the TEMPLATE utility.

LOADing to and UNLOADing from named pipes is extremely useful, for example, to copy data between different Db2 systems on the same z/OS image. In JCL, this is easy, we just need a SYSREC DD statement that points to a named pipe to be created (PATHOPTS=OCREAT). However, when invoking LOAD and UNLOAD via DSNUTILU, there is no way to create the named pipe on the fly.

So what I suggest is to extend the existing DSNTYPE parameter for the TEMPLATE utility with a PIPE option.

    Thank you for submitting this Db2 Utilities Suite for z/OS Idea.

    After giving the request a comprehensive review, we have determined that we cannot include it as a candidate in an upcoming deliverable because it is not consistent with our strategy for future deliverables. Consequently, we will not be implementing this Idea.

    Comment from Development team:

    This enhancement is considered a nice-to-have. While it would improve ease of use from end user perspective, it is not likely this would be considered ahead of the other planned utility enhancements in the current roadmap.

    We appreciate your input to the Db2 Utilities Suite for z/OS development team. We also hope that you will continue to submit enhancement suggestions for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 Utilities Suite for z/OS.
