Improving CHECK utility performance: elapsed time and CPU

On our site, we have a PBG tablespace that, after loading, has the last partition in CHECK PENDING, the other partitions in RW.

The IBM CHECK utility has taken a long time to complete the verification.

We tried using the SCOPE PENDING parameter, but the execution time was close to that observed when using SCOPE ALL.

We have another company's CHECK utility and it performed the same verification in 10 minutes that the IBM CHECK performed in 1 hour.

We need IBM CHECK utility better performance when running this feature, so we can use it on our environment. Today it's not possible to use the CHECK utility because the elapsed time so much more than the other tool.

    Thank you for submitting this Db2 Utilities Suite for z/OS Idea.

    After giving the request a comprehensive review, we have determined that we would like to pursue this at a future date.

    The development team would like further information to help prioritize the request. The development team would actually like to see the job outputs for the utility execution for further examinations, and generally agree that there are further performance enhancements that can be made in this area. If customer open a case to upload the supporting docs (or send the output to Haakon directly), it would be greatly appreciated.

    We appreciate your input to the Db2 Utilities Suite for z/OS development team. We also hope that you will continue to submit enhancement suggestions for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 Utilities Suite for z/OS.
