DB2 utility should be protected in case of abend 878 - end of memory

Hello there,

This is related to IBM case TS016981605.

DB2 was not able to manage correctly 878 abend (end of virtual memory below 16M line).

Because of that, we had troubles in our production environment.

In this case, IBM suggested to require a "design review" (idea) about this incident, because we think that DB2 should be protected for that.

Message from IBM:

"

Currently we have this storage limitation below the 16M line since years. Actually this is nothing for an APAR, but rather for a design request.

"

I hope this helps.

It is difficult to get a lot of votes on this idea, but I am trying. I think this should be done.

Best regards,

Luis.
