Enhance LOAD to support Load on DATABASE level

We suppose to enhance LOAD utility to allow LOAD DATABASE, intended to create the possibility of loading several or all tables of a database in one step using only one SYSREC file.

Background: In the past, using segmented tablespaces, we had the option of unloading several tables with one unload step and loading them again with one load step. The data records were marked with an AUTOTAG in SYSREC file.

This option has been lost due to the switch to UTS. When copying the tables of a database from one DB2 to another, the data records can still be collected in one file, but when loading, one step per table respectively one INTO-TABLE-specification per table is necessary.

    Dear Frank,

    Thank you for submitting this idea. While the conversion of multi-table non-UTS table space to individual UTS table spaces resulted in this behavioral change, the Db2 LOAD utility is designed and targeted to execute on one table space at a time. From an overall performance perspective, user can achieve savings in total CPU and ET by running multiple LOAD jobs concurrently to load into tables in different table spaces. There is no plan to support this kind of data base level single LOAD operation natively in Db2 Utilities.

    We appreciate your input to the Db2 z/OS development team. And we hope that you will continue to submit enhancement suggestions for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 for z/OS Utilities.
