IBM Data Platform Ideas Portal for Customers

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against products and services offered by the IBM Data Platform organization. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas

Post ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea

Change Db2 Load And Db2 Reorg To Selectively Ignore KEEPDICTIONARY

Change Db2 Load and Db2 Reorg to ignore KEEPDICTIONARY if the tablespace part is currently compressed and
* SYSTABLEPART.COMPRESS IN ('F','H') & SYSTABLEPART.COMPRESS <> SYSTABLEPART.COMPRESS_USED
          OR
* SYSTABLEPART.COMPRESS = 'Y' & zParm TS_COMPRESSION_TYPE <> SYSTABLEPART.COMPRESS_USED

For TS parts using Fixed Compression and that have Loads/Reorgs with KEEPDICTIONARY,  to covert the TS parts from Fixed to Huffman Compression the following has to be done:
1) Change the desired Compression algorithm (ALTER of TS/TS part or change zParm)
2) Change the utility to remove KEEPDICTIONARY
3) Run the utility to switch compression algorithms
4) Change the utility to add KEEPDICTIONARY

In big Production environments 100s or 1000s of utilities would have to be changed twice to switch all TSs from Fixed to Huffman Compression.

With the proposed changes,  for TS parts using Fixed Compression and that have Loads/Reorgs with KEEPDICTIONARY, to covert the TS parts from Fixed to Huffman Compression the following would have to be done:
1) Change the desired Compression algorithm (ALTER of TS/TS part or change zParm)
2) Run the utility to switch compression algorithms

No utility control cards would need to change!  If desired the whole environment could be switched to Huffman compression by simply changing the zParm -- TS/TS parts would switch the next time a load or reorg ran.
