"smooth" way to delete an index by mark the index deprecated before drop

We would like to have an option to drop an index in a "smooth" way. package invalidation
Idea is, that an index could be marked as "deprecated".
This should have the effect, that this index is no longer chosen during BIND/REBIND for use in new created access pathes.
In this state the index would continue to be maintained, when data changes are processed in the table.
This is particularly relevant for unique indexes, but also for packages, which are not rebinded yet after marking the index.
Now all index using packages could be bound at a for the respective package suitable time.
After rebind of all packages, the index could be dropped without any package invalidation, because index is no longer used by any package.
