Request for an improvement to Passticket authentication to use Ticket Enhanced instead of Legacy.

We have IDAA v7 and z/OS v3.1 installed.

To connect to z/OS, we currently use a legacy ticket, as recommended in the documentation. However, our security team has indicated that, starting with z/OS v2.5, legacy tickets are deprecated and we must use enhanced tickets (with ICSF services). We need instructions on how to configure an enhanced ticket request to RACF using a routine, instead of generating a local legacy ticket.

For this reason, we opened a Case (TS021012933) and added the following information:

We have utilities that allow us to obtain tickets, which we maintain. These utilities can be called directly from z/OS, Windows, or Linux. Both ticket request methods use the standard RACF ticket generation macros and generate enhanced or legacy tickets according to the definitions established in RACF in PTKTDATA.

Is it possible to make an external call to a z/OS module, or can a program be installed on the Linux system for this purpose? The latter program requires access to a secure port where an LDAP server is hosted.

In this case, we are told the following:

How to use/enable passtickets for Integrated Synchronization is described here:

https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/daafz/7.5.0?topic=synchronization-enabling-integrated-db2-subsystem

There is currently no other option available. Any other methods to obtain a ticket (e.g., by calling a specific program on z/OS) would require code changes within IDAA.

You may want to submit an AHA idea (official requirement) to IDAA to have such an enhancement request evaluated and accepted or rejected.
