It occasionally happens that an action will encounter an error because an incompatible utility is already executing on a given object. For example, when a separate RUNSTATS utility on an object attempts to execute while a REORG on that same object is currently executing, the RUNSTATS will error out with a message similar to the following:
DSNU180I DSN9 105 15:32:05.10 DSNUGUCC - UTILITY IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE R EORG TABLESPACE UTILITY
UTILID = A44845, OBJECT = dbname.index-name
When this happens, the incompatible action is never executed and is simply put into an 'ERROR' status. However, the user probably still wants the action to be executed. I would like to suggest that Automation Expert be enhanced to allow the user to specify what the disposition of such actions should be. The user can be given the choice of: 1) Do nothing, and put the action in ERROR status (current behavior), 2) reschedule the action in the CURRENT maintenance window after all other scheduled actions complete, 3) insert the action into the NEXT scheduled execution of the maintenance window.
