Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests

The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

REORG needs to be enhanced to separate processing for partitions having dictionaries and no dictionaries

Using LISTDEF there are 4 partitions selected to be reorged.

PART 5 - CARDF 50M, dictionary

PART 6 - CARDF 60M, dictionary

PART 11 - CARDF 110M, dictionary

PART 80 - CARDF 150,000, no dictionary

Since PART 80 does not have a dictionary and all PARTs are being reorged in the same invocation of REORG, PART 5,6,11 rows are uncompressed. This causes added MIPS and increases the DASD requirements for SORTDATA.

I am proposing REORG splits the processing into two runs. Partitions with dictionaries and Partitions without dictionaries.

Run 1 - Part 5,6,11

Run 2 - Part 80

Needed By Quarter
