An Admin Tool option where you can auto-generate CREATE TABLE SQL Statements based on IMS DBD Source code input

This would significantly simplify IMS to Db2 conversions at a time when IMS talent is becoming more difficult to find.

The idea would require an "IMS DBD to Db2 Table Converter" option in the db2 admin tool, where you can paste IMS DBD source code, execute the conversion process, and it outputs the full executable Db2 DDL to define a Db2 table equivalent to the IMS source code structure.

Additionally, you should be able to input an IMS DBD Unload file, the tool then converts that IMS Unloaded data, with the help of the DBD source code structure and new db2 table structure, into a Db2 Flat File which can then be loaded into the new Db2 table. Thus providing a full conversion from IMS DBD to Db2 Table including data conversion.

Steps:

- Select the "IMS DBD to Db2 Table Converter" option in the Db2 tool.

- Paste IMS DBD source code

- Paste the name of an unload file for the IMS DBD.

- Execute the conversion process.

- An equivalent Db2 table and control card is generated based on the IMS DBD source code.

- A Db2 Flat File is generated which can be loaded into the new db2 table.

    Thank you for submitting this Db2 Administration Tool for z/OS enhancement request.

    After giving the request a comprehensive review, we have determined that we cannot include it as a candidate in a future deliverable because it is not consistent with the product purpose. Consequently, we will not be implementing this request.
