Enable rebind of packages after a reorg in Automation Tool

I want to use Automation Tool to reorganise a tablespace to materialise a change to a UTS.

I will issue the ALTER TABLESPACE MAXPARTITIONS nnn statement during the working day, which will put the tablespace into the AREOR state.

I have a job profile in Automation Tool containing an exception profile using 'STATUS_AREOR' in 'Db2 Display Status Exception conditions'.

I want this job profile to run overnight during a quiet period. The job will run the reorg and the tablespace will be converted to a UTS.

The table in this tablespace has packages dependent on it. The packages will be invalidated when the alter is materialised.

I want to be able to follow up the reorg in Automation Tool with a rebind of the invalidated packages on that table.

Automation Tool doesn't currently allow packages to go through a rebind after a reorg in autonomics mode, even though it allows you to run a reorg that will invalidate packages.

Automation Tool should be enhanced to allow a user to run a reorg of a tablespace, followed by a rebind of dependent packages in the same job profile. This will save the user having to set up and schedule a separate rebind job. With a separate rebind job, it would be difficult to know when the reorg has finished, to then run the rebind job immediately afterwards.

This enhancement will benefit any users wanting to run a reorg in Automation Tool that invalidates packages. With the recommendation to move forward to UTS tablespaces, this enhancement will benefit that process by adding some automation to it.

    Development reports that this can already be done.

    In a single utility profile, the user can select both REORG TS and REBIND to be included in the same job.

    This will eliminate the contention issue

    There can be a problem with this if multi reorg jobs are running and possibility invalidating the same package due to changing TS attributes. A rebind can be done in one job while another job is invalidating the package causing contention.
