Support IIDR reads from Secondary Volumes of Global Mirror

Support IIDR Capture reading from secondary volumes of Global Mirror.
The customer uses IMS FP function for core banking systems. The customer is planning IBM InfoSphere Data Replication for IMS(IIDR) as the next DR solution instead of IMS RSR.
As a result of our performance test, the performance goal couldn't be achieved because Apply Processing was perceived as a bottleneck. Although Multiple Subscription is possible solution of the performance problem, however, it has another problem of the capability of guaranteeing the consistency at an unplanned switch. If Capture Process can read IMS LOG/RECON from secondary volumes of Global Mirror, Multiple Subscriptions will be able to be applied without losing consistency.

Additionally, this remote system needs to be consistent between DEDB and a VSAM file outside IMS. Although it is functionally possible to convert this VSAM file into DEDB to have consistency of them with the IIDR function, however, it is difficult due to the performance constraint of Apply Processing because of the high frequency of updating to the VSAM file. By mirroring the IMS LOG/RECON and the VSAM file with the same consistency group of Global Mirror, it is possible to guarantee the consistency between the IMSDB and the VSAM file without increasing the amount of Apply Processing.

    [IBM Update]

    Hi,

Thank you for filing this requirement and for your interest in keeping our IMS/VSAM Data Replication technologies vital and successful. We depend on your continued interest and ideas to help ensure our products keep pace with market needs and industry standards.

Although we do agree that your request is valid, after monitoring your request for more customer demand over the last few years and applying other relevant evaluation criteria, unfortunately we won't be able to accept your request at this time. However, if there is still an important business need, we encourage you to file a new idea accompanied with any additional information that could help us prioritize the requirement in the future.
