Configure multi-user login for DVM JGATE admin site Merged

Scenario:
Currently the only way to access the DVM JGATE site (https://db2_subsystem:port/gateway) is to use the admin username and password established during the DVM installation. The data sources within the interface are managed by us, the DB2 Systems team. Periodically an application team will need to change their database password set within the JDBC gateway data source.

Issue
In order for the application to update their password, they either need to provide us with their newly updated password (so we can make the change for them) or we provide them access the gateway site. We don't want their password, for security reasons, and they would have to use our admin credentials to login to the gateway site. Either way doesn't provide the highest level of security. If they go in and make changes to a data source using the admin username and password, there is no way to identify who made what change.

Proposed solution:
Establish a way to setup multi-user login support for the JGATE admin site so that we can provide the application teams their own credentials enabling us to log changes to the data sources.

Benefits:

  • Having the ability to track changes to the DVM data sources, per application.
  • Not having a single shared password to access the JGATE site.
  • Applications won't have to share their database passwords.
  • Having the ability to grant/revoke application access to the JGATE site.
