Unavailability of ErrorMessage in ZOS Connect

We are creating webservices off of ADABAS using DVM and exposing those using ZOS Connect. My aim is to throw appropriate http error code as the case maybe when an error is encountered. I believe there is no way to do it and we have to interpret the response of the extra fields returned as per the Manual.

As per DVM Users manual (Version 1 Release 1 located at IBM Data Virtualization Manager for z/OS: Data Virtualization Manager User's Guide) the following are the response fields sent by ZOS Connect when a DVM query is executed


There are 8 fields

  • Result

  • ErrMsg

  • NumRecs

  • Skipped

  • Affected

  • TotRecs

  • NumFields

  • Records

But we receive only 7 fields only in our output as pasted below. We do not get ErrMsg in this as pasted below


We do get an errorMessage from ZOS Connect when the service is stopped as pasted below


I have coded the 404 rule in ZOS Connect as below and it is working fine and throwing the 404 when records are not returned


To code the rule for 500 error I wanted to look for ErrMsg or ErrorMessage (and it being greater than spaces) but that is not available in the ZOS Connect dropdown(ZOS Connect service is built from SAR file exported from DVM)


Let me know how I can throw a http 500 error when an error is encountered.
