The name parameter has a limit of 4 chars. It is the connection name that user can see on DVM studio.
Our external databases have names with more character and to have to convert them to only 4 could be a limit.
For example ORAT1SRV need to be codified with only 4 chars. We have many different server names.
For each connection we can define, using AVZDRATH a default user, that is all TSO USERID will map to a specifici user to that target.
If I want to map a specidic USERID for that USERID I can only map it throught that connection to a single target userid.
Since the target userid mapped to target are for SCHEMA, if a same user need to access diferent SCHEMA I will have to create a second connection of the same Oracle, name it in a different way (NAME parameter 4CHAR) and use it for creating the connection to that SCHEMA.
Thus as a matter of fact making us create a new connection for each schema on the same ORACLE.
This for more ORACLE.
The fact that on DVM Server there is this 4 char limit, makes it difficult to codify a standard to make it easily to recognize to what target we are going.
Considering also that we have other target (Oracle, Teradata, Mysql e Sqlserver).
On other connection servers we use, to easily recognize the target, names such as ServerName_SchemaName, thus we need more than 4 chars.
