If a large number of files come into the system just before and just after the cutoff time for a processing window, depending on the makeup of the files, some files after the cutoff that will be assigned to the next window can be sent to distribution before files ingested just prior to cutoff. These batches sent to distribution assigned to the next processing window would then be in queue ahead of batches still finishing ingestion which are then sent to distribution for the window that was just cutoff. This causes a delay in getting all the batches through distribution for the window that was just cutoff as they wait behind the messages that are for the next window.
We would like for a way for the FTM application to apply a priority to messages sent to Distribution such that the messages are processed first in order by the processing window they are assigned to, then by the normal FIFO order within each processing window grouping. This will have the benefit of allowing FTM to process all distribution messages for an earlier processing window before messages for the next one, allowing for the earlier window to close and complete faster.
